Hi, a big warm welcome to our first Canapé Company blog. This is an opportunity to share my passion for canapés, entertaining creatively with style and a great sense of fun. I would also like to give you up to the minute ideas for entertaining around Wellington and using our beautiful local seasonal produce; so yes also recipes.

And lots, lots more.

What better a theme to start with than breakfast?  Canapés are basically any meal made miniature. So here are some of the breakfast canapés we make and ideas for incorporating them into your entertaining repertoire.

Canapé breakfast is perfect for corporate seminars where people want to mix and mingle and the food needs to be easy and unobtrusive and time is of the essence.  Also, for any occasion where your guests are not all seated and served, imagine serving these with Champagne as a weekend brunch celebration or with your girlfriends on the morning of your wedding.  They would be also be an ideal choice for a special 1st or 2nd year old's family birthday party, a Christening or or 90th birthday celebration. 

That said you can serve a canapés style meal or snack in a theatre type of arrangement. How exciting for your guests to get handed a fabulous box filled with canapé treats to enjoy while listening to and watching your presentation. It could be presented like a special present and your friends or clients will just love the details and the fun of it. 

One of the things I truly love about canapés is their transportability. You could plan a surprise product launch at the top of Mount Victoria or outside on the Wellington waterfront and if for some reason the weather wasn’t the greatest (not that that ever happens in Wellington) you could easily implement a Plan B for your function and have it under shelter at a moments notice. You couldn’t do that if your guests are being seated for a meal. Think also of the cost savings in hireage and staffing when the food for your function is done canapé style.

I just love the way that with canapé style you can have a little of everything off the menu, lets face it takes the agony out of choosing what to order! I'd go the shooter glass with french toast and maple syrup for starters, no the muesli, the mini muffins are divine, oh damn make that one of everything!
