Trend Alert! Cocktail desserts are being served at Wellington Parties
We are noticing a trend in Wellington as a caterer. A lot of clients are asking to serve a sweet cocktail as the dessert. Guests will always remember the first and last things at a party. A round of something sweet and delicious as dessert is always remembered and talked about the next day. As a client remarked to me, “After the round of chocolate martinis the party just went off.”
As a host, is a great idea to select a cocktail to serve based on your personal taste and style. There are so many to choose from including caramel, chocolate, berry, lemon meringue, peach, plum etc.
I loved this one recipe tested with some special Wellington friends after lunch last week. It really does taste just like a boysenberry trumpet. In true canapé style find some cute mini glasses to serve this in.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in 15ml of Frangelico and 15ml of Chambord per serving. Shake and strain into the glass. Top with a small dollop of slightly thickened cream. We used the Lewis Road creamery double cream and lightly whipped it.
Catering is all about the details and the final touch is to glam up the glass. We have used fabulous plastic shard like picks and threaded cranberries on them. Any berry, citrus or edible flower would also look great. Sugar on rim of the glass is great as are some of the cute straws available at the moment.
Enjoy creating your version to share with friends!!!
